YouTube talents encourage donors to give to The Salvation Army

This year’s Rock the Red Kettle Concert was incredible! We were blessed to have talented artists such as Shawn Mendes, Becky G, R5, Bea Miller, Exist Elsewhere, and Josh Levi grace the stage in support of our 124th Red Kettle Campaign. What we didn’t know that night was that watching from the audience was a pair of talented young women who not only heard our message about Doing The Most good and giving back this holiday season, but took it upon themselves to help us spread the word.

Did you know the Cubs honored a Salvation Army officer during the ’32 World Series?

From the wheel of his trash truck, this do gooder found a way to care

Salvation Army bands are not just part of our culture, they’re part of yours too. With references to the band in works by Bill Cosby, 80s’ folk group Dream Academy, and in dozens of films such as Seabiscuit, It’s a Wonderful Life and even Three Days of the Condor, the Army is almost as well known for its bands as it is anything else!

“The love that I feel from the people around me in The Salvtion Army can only be from God. I can be completely honest with somebody and not be judged…I don’t have to pretend to be anybody: I can be me. That feeling inside is better than any drug, any drink, any pill I’ve ever taken.”

Retired Salvation Army officer using his gift of photography

When I began work for The Salvation Army almost 15 years ago I met a Salvation Army officer who volunteered his time to take professional-quality photographs of important events and activities. Major Ron Bawden is now retired and is still hard at work taking beautiful photos at Salvation Army events.

Salvation Army musicians offer Merry Christmas carol service to travelers at Heathrow

The Salvation Army was born in 1865 in London so our UK colleagues have had many years of experience serving the locals. In typical Army fashion, they went where people in need could be found and rendered a sweet service yesterday: a band played Christmas carols with vocalists from the Royal College of Music wearing Victorian costume to entertain weary, stressed travelers at Heathrow Airport!
